indépendance day

That's very neighborly of you. Thank You.

My late uncle was stationed in your country while he motorcycle escorted convoys as part of Company B - 769th M.P. Brigade during WWII. He had great memories of your people. Thank you for him. :)

I have the letters he wrote home with the pictures, and for security they only say "Someplace In Belgium" as a location. He lost good friends there and avoided talking about the war but I know he fell in love there also.

He had written to my grandmother that he wanted to marry a Belgian girl named Doreen. Sadly my grandmother managed to stop the wedding plans (she didn't want him staying in Europe). Many years later, we were in his room at the Veterans Hospital in Brooklyn as he lay in a coma dying from cancer. He sat up quickly and stared into an empty corner of the room and called out "Doreen". That was the last thing he ever said. I like to imagine he's finally back in Belgium with his true love.

Thank You! When I was working we did quite a bit of work with the Belgian company, SOPEX BELGE they were involved in Sugar plantations mainly in Africa. Also the companies ABR Engineering and Desmet Ind. Design. Every visit to Belgium I had to have Moules Mariniere at least once, one of my favorites, they were always excellent!

What a beautiful but sad story that your uncle has, she proves that love is finally stronger than war, and remains alive in the memory of men. Thank you very much for your moving and very beautiful testimony. Honor and respect for your uncle, for you and your family, friendships
