When you're not cooking for a family, leftovers become an important issue. A couple nights ago I baked a full sized pizza and had a good sized portion of it left over. So I put the leftover pizza on a Pfaltzgraff plate and tried to find a place in the refrigerator to put it. The refrigerator was kind of stuffed so it was hard to find a fairly level place to put the plate, but I found an area on top of stuff that I thought would be stable. Well guess what? Some time later I open the refrigerator and the plate with the leftover pizza comes sailing out, turns over and hits the floor bottom side up.

My worst fear was that I would have a shattered dinner plate on my kitchen floor. But Pfaltzgraff dishes have two endearing qualities, thick and heavy. I picked up the plate from the floor and upon examination the plate was entirely intact. No cracks, no chips, no scratches. It is in the dishwasher now as I am writing this.

I have always said that if a missile ever hit my house, when they sift the ashes, they will find two things. The Griswold cast iron skillets and the Pfaltzgraff dishes.

Given enough dedication, personal sacrifice and remembering all those starving children; can finish off a whole pizza. And since am unwilling to shift burdens upon others, can do it by myself. With wings.
