Which SD handgun works best for you?

I carried a revolver on the job in one form or another for 30 years, even when we transitioned to semi autos my 2nd gun was a revolver and in detectives always a snub.Revolvers are my comfort zone and those are all that I own now. That being said my edc rotates between a 442,3 inch model 36,detective special and an old colt cobra.I shoot them all and quite frequently and feel very comfortable with my choices.

Dude.....I know they work like a machine and all....but no. She ain't. That's a mug only it's father could call beautiful......

Eye of the beholder I guess... I find Glocks good looking and 1911s ugly. Gen 1, 2 and 5 are the best looking IMO.

I've honestly never experienced a pistol I couldn't shoot well enough to feel comfortable carrying. But I mostly carry a 2.0 shield and Glock 20.

I like (& carry) my J Frames, mostly my 340PD and/or 442-2. I'm not giving up my 36, 649, or 940 though. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

My Glock 19 and spare mags will certainly help me prevent dying a horrible death. :)

Ain't she a beauty!

Glock 17 should be minimum.... Glock 20 is really the ideal carry gun if you don't want to die a horrible death.

That 22 mag. will definitely get the job done. It ain't the caliber of what yer pack'n that matters the most, its the number of shots you can get on target quickly. I once read, way back when, that the first shooter that puts a shot COM will win the gunfight about 90% of the time. I can believe that.

I have 5 that I use for carry:

3914TSW (IWB) my usual carry

Ruger LCP (pocket) second most used.

686-4 plus snub (IWB or pancake) for something different

3" Model 36-1 (IWB) for something different

Beretta 21A (pocket) rarely used anymore

I won't carry a sidearm that's not 100% reliable with my ammo. My semis are BHP in 40, new M&P 2.0 Shield 45. Revolvers that are 100% are Smiths 625, 58, 544, 49, and a Ruger Security Six. Only the M&P has less than 1000 rounds through it, but I'm over 500 with complete reliability.

For years, with my on-the-road jobs, I carried a 60 in an upside-down shoulder holster. It hid well even under my suit vest with my jacket off. I was a lot slimmer then. I still have a couple of similar holsters for my current j-frames, but I find the preferred long-day carry is my 365XL. I live in an open carry state, but the IWB gets no stares. The OWB kydex (even with the lock) gets too obvious. Even from the Wally World couple with his-and-hers IWB's for their Colt Commanders.

For low-speed high-drag Dad sort of missions through the mean streets of the suburbs, I've found this little SIG 9mm 938 to be accurate, dependable, and very easily carried.
This is SIG's "Campaign" model that has a kind of distressed finish like the knife. I think it was something that only Bass Pro and Cabella's sold and I don't think it was very popular, judging by the sale price.

I most often carry snubby revolvers on my home turf: Ruger SP101, or 642PC. I rotate to Sig semiautos for carry in town.

I carry a M&P Bodyguard 380 AIWB in a Vedder kydex holster with an extra mag. It works for me.
Just added Talon rubber grips (pic on far right). Makes a BIG difference. Carry ammo is Precision One 90gr HP/XTP.

I have really made a change. I was going to start carrying a Glock 26 with my pocket 442. Well, I inherited a few guns. After some Range Time I find that I can't get enough of this XDm 3.8 9mm Springfield. For years I never cared for semi autos and only occasionally carried my Glock. This XD has changeable back straps and this thing just fits right. It's easy to shoot and has 20 rounds ready to go. For years I have been on the J-Frame band wagon. I still have one in my pocket but, this XDm is going to be in my waist for a while.

I carried a Glock 27 for a lot of years, then switched to a 642-1.

There has been times I carried my little LCP in my back pocket.

I've been carrying a Sig P365 for a couple years now, and don't see anything in my future that will ever replace it.

Seriously doubt I'll ever need it, but I can carry so I do.

I bought a Glock19 in September of 2017 and a Glock26 in June(?) 2018 and I really haven't carried anything else since.

I've tried different options over the years, "this is the one!", kept going back to a 642. Not so fun to shoot, so when I got a 640 it replaced the 642, I belt carry AIWB so weight isn't an issue.
My carry preference changes with seasons and location, when I'm lower on the food chain I carry a 3" 686, plains to the east a 60-15. Urban either the 640 or a 60 dependent on dress. I've grow to appreciate the weight of an all steel J-Frame.
For a semi, I carry a Kimber Pro Carry when the mood suits me.
