For those of you that have access to, and use, an indoor range, what are the costs?

Would you be more likely to use an indoor range if the costs were reasonable? What do you consider reasonable?

I must apologize to the forum. I intended to put this in the 'Lounge' initially, but for some reason put it in the 'M&P Pistol' forum. My mistake.

About $12/h and $1/ear/eye if you don't have any. Or you can get a membership. Some charge more for rifle.

I have 3 ranges within 15 miles of me. The closest is an outdoor one.....one mile away and the one I use the least. I like outdoor shooting but this place only allows bench rest shooting, which I really despise. It does nothing for realistic practice. Also they don't allow surplus 7.62x54r ammo.

The indoor range about 6 miles away is one I use the most even though the owner is DB. It has the least amount of rules (in a good way) but it's only 25 yards so rifle shooting is pointless. 3rd range is too crowded for me.

I do all my rifle shooting 1.5hrs away at a State game land

The nearest indoor range for me is about 25 min away. Its $8 per 1/2hr. plus a couple bucks for paper targets (I prefer the zombie ones :D). Several times I have gone there during the week & had to wait for a lane. & trying to go during the weekend? Forget about it! So what I did was become a member of my local fish & game. Its much closer to my house. Its much cheaper. I can go whenever I want & never have to wait for a lane. They also provide cardboard targets free of charge. And the biggest thing for me is shooting outdoors, & not breathing all that lead filled air :) Have not been back to the indoor range since.

One indoor range about 10 miles away. 25 yd pistol lanes and 40 yd rifle lanes. $15/hr.
Another indoor about 18 miles away. All lanes 25 yd. $12/hr. + a good selection of new & used guns.
I go to both.

No outdoor ranges within easy driving distance.

Live in Chicago metro. Most ranges are $20. Some are that per hour, I don't go to those. Several are $20 per day. The catch is their ammo, their targets. Two have annual memberships. One is $250, that one's minimum target distance is approx 35 ft. Other one is $325, targets at 20, 40, 75 ft. I go there because they permit re-loads, shotguns with slugs only, & rifle.

The range I use is membership based. They have a couple of options. $25 yearly and $15 per lane (no time limit) or $250 a year and no lane charges. Since I go 4-5 times a week 250 a year is fairly cheap for me. Only ammo restriction is no unjacketed lead (except .22) or steel core bullets. No restriction on picking up brass.

My indoor range is pistol calibers only and 25 yd max, but that works for me. I pay $200 for a year of unlimited use plus 6 free guest passes. Only restriction is no steel bullets or cases. free targets as well. I go 1-2 times a week so it sure beats paying for each session. If my family wanted to shoot more i would buy the family plan for $400 per year (with 18 guest passes) but for now they are not interested in going more than a few times a year so my 6 guest passes work for that.

They also let me collect my brass.

My closest (less than 3 miles), is $18/hr or $150/yr. They include ears/eyes with rental. Members get free gun rentals and 10% off ammo purchases. If I bring my own ammo and targets, it costs me nothing additional.

Was just at the Range this morning. There are two in the area that are a 10 minute drive from me.

One is $14 per hour, they require you to buy their over priced target ammo, the people who work there at the Range/Gun shop are known for their douche baggery and elitist attitudes, there is NEVER a range master or anyone even watching the range, and the majority of the people who shoot there are dangerous dimwits. There are bullet holes in the stall dividers, ceiling, and floor. I went there one time and that was enough for me.

The other Range opened this past June. Top notch place, but a tad pricey at $18 per hour. But it's always clean, everyone is friendly and helpful, and there's always a Range Master on duty. They sell ammo at a reasonable price, though the stuff they had today was extremely dirty and leaded up my barrel pretty good.

There's no outdoor Ranges close, so I go to the more expensive of the two here. Though I think it's worth the extra $4 per hour for quality and safety.

Tampa metro area, range I use is $15.00 per hour per person.

Includes eye and ears, but not firearms, targets or ammo.

Kalifornia indoor range is about 2 miles from my house. $11 hour $9 military. You can get all the rental equipment too, eyes, ears, targets, guns.

Indoor, $100 a year membership gets you $10 hour pistol/rifle lane (50 yd max) plus reduced rates on the trap lines and archery range. Not sure of those rates...never used 'em.

I belong to two clubs in the greater Boston area. Each are $150 per year no hourly fees. One has a 75' and 50' indoor range, 50', 50 yard, and 100/200 yard outdoor, trap/skeet ranges. The other is pretty much outdoor only, 7/15/25/50 yard, 100 yard, 200/300 yard and a ton of action pits for action shooting. I could not even imagine shooting if I had to pay per hour or deal with range safety officers.

The range I like locally is pretty reasonable. Lane rental is $10, & that's for as long as you want to shoot. The only restriction on ammo is no steel core. Pick up your brass or don't, its your choice. They keep an eye on things, so its fairly safe. Its a full service LGS, & they have a small restaurant on premises. Its a good place to shoot, But I wouldn't try to go on the weekend or on a federal holiday.

We have a nice 10 lane indoor range, with all the amenities, for $12.00 an hour. Seniors, like me, pay $10.00. They have a variety of targets, ammo, and safety gear. Each lane has stools, a bench, and a spotting scope. It's very nice, but the rules are a little stifling. Ear muffs for .22 shorts?
Anyway, it's a nice, clean, warm place to shoot.

$5 all day

$5.00 all day, $8-10/ day for the indoor rifle range. Amazingly cheap, but conditions are pretty poor inside, lighting is bad.
You can shoot anything you want, reloads, whatever, and collect your own brass.

They funnel you through the gun and supply shop to get to the range so I think they most most of their money selling stuff.

My membership is $295/yr. That covers all of my range time for me and wife (or any single guest I bring with me), no limits. It also puts us in priority order if the place is busy, which has only been an issue once this year (been a member since March).

It also covers free rental of all range pistols, which is nice for either playing around now and then or trying things out before I decide on a purchase.

It also gives me half-price rentals for the range's fully automatic firearms. Regarding pistols and full autos, my range has a sister range in Atlanta, and they will rotate their inventory from time to time, keeping a nice variety.

If I use the range's firearms, I have to buy their ammo for it. It's a bit pricey, but not totally outrageous. Otherwise, I use my own for my own firearms.

If I want targets (I usually buy 1-2 per session, and still bring my own sticky targets to use after we shoot up the silhouettes), it's anywhere from $1-3/target. I could bring my own silhouettes, too, if I wanted. No problem. However, I like to support my range, not to mention I don't always want to tote around those larger targets.

This also gives me access to reduced FFL transfer fees, which I've now taken advantage of twice. Not a big deal, but a nice benefit to take advantage of, as a member.

For non-members, range time is:

$12.95 per person unlimited range time Monday - Friday (non-members)
$12.95 per person per hour on Saturday & Sunday

Gun rentals are:
Semi-Auto Gun Rental $10.00 per session, switch guns as many times as you like
Full-Auto Gun Rental $30.00 per gun

Eyes & Ear protection is free for members and an additional $1.50 per person for non-members.

Houston north side there are many. My favorite just went to no rapid fire (even double taps) rule so I changed. Most are $15 - $16 per hour unless there are free stalls and then they don't run the clock, unlimited time. I've been to every range in the Houston area, including the ones a long way from me. My new favorite is Shiloh Shooting Range. Friendly folks, free targets and last Wed. I was wearing my "Proud Army Dad" hat. He asked if I was military and I said no, my son is. He said "Good enough for me" and gave me the -$4. off for Military rate. I'll be heading back regularly.

$13 bucks an hour, but nobody watches the clock unless it's busy. 5 minutes from my house, & 25 yds. Ears, & eyes are free. No reloaded ammo allowed, & they do check. GARY
