Indoor Range Lighting

Hi:
My local Indoor range lighting is somewhat DIM.
Is this a similar condition with Indoor Ranges as a rule?

I think for the older ones it is,

But the new latest greatest state of the art everything on it gotta use their targets and ammo can't shoot your reloads and can't pick up your own brass..........ranges, they can afford the best lighting systems money can buy

The older I get the dimmer that lighting in the range seems. There might be some correlation.

Mostly the lighting appears dim due to the range being backlit.
Down here in the south, any lights forward of the shooters is considered targets.

FWIW: Have you ever noticed the ceiling just over the shooter line? They always are filled with bullet holes. Are people that bad of shots?

My refrigerator has better indoor lighting than the nearest indoor range. Distances usually are not marked very well either.

One of the ranges I frequent has poor lighting but it's good to practice in a variety of conditions. It also prompted me to install a "Big Dot" on my carry gun because the original front sight on my M60 was so difficult to pick up in low light...

My local indoor range has good lighting outside of 10 yards but 7 to 10 is very dim. It is a really nice range only about 5 years old, you would think they could have done better.

I think dim lighting is a requirement.

I took my greatgrandson to a indoor range Saturday and the lighting could have been much better. Pretty dim. I know what you are thinking but my eyes are really still pretty good. Better than a lot of other things.

Have to agree on the poor lighting at indoor ranges.
