I picked up a 17-6 (stamped under yoke) that I had not seen before and cannot find any info on it. It has a blued frame and barrel with stainless cylinder. I have read about the later version where 200 or so were made with the brf or brc serial numbers. Pics of the box label and gun are attached. Thanks for any info.

Thanks, I saw that but assumed it was about the BRF/BRC ser# mentioned above on the same page which are 17-7 and same product code.

I have four other "BPU" s/n's in my collection that all date to October - November of 1993. So, in this case, I think it's likely the Spec. Ord. number is NOT a date code, but in fact a "real" special order number. (Meaning we don't know what it really stands for).

Further the -7's, "BRC" looks like December 1993 and "BRF" March of 1994. So, it looks to me like the OP's gun is a early edition of the order of 200. If they shipped in a normal sequence, they were made slowly over several months, instead of all at once.

There was also a 4-inch version made at the same time in very small numbers, only (14). It's product code was 100507.
