Greetings. I am new to this forum, and this is my first post. I have been a member of others forums for years.

Anyway, I have a .32 hand ejector I inherited from my great-grandfather's estate several years ago. It is blued (now brown patina), hard rubber grips (chipped), has a 4-1/4" barrel, has "32 LONG CTG" on the left side of the barrel, and the latest patent date on top of the barrel is Feb 1906. The S/N is 112221. Pop, as he was called, was a WW1 veteran who was gassed / wounded, but survived the war and raised a family. He was in the bookkeeping department at his work, and carried this pistol in his coat pocket every day, and it stayed in his nightstand after work and after he retired.

What can you tell me about it? Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum. Your gun is a .32 Hand Ejector, Model of 1903, 5th change. This model was made between 1910-1917 and 160,499 were manufactured. Your gun was made Feb. 1, 1910. As you may know, you can obtain a factory historical letter for the gun that will tell you when, to whom, and where it was shipped . The ship date may be months or years after the gun was made, depending on how fast orders were filled. The link to the application form for a factory letter is on this Forum and on the S&W factory web page. Cost is $50. Ed.

Thanks for the info. Pop would have been 15 in 1910, so I wonder if his dad or someone else bought it. I guess I'll have to spring $50 to find out.

I'm assuming you have a very good reason for not posting pics of your grandfather's gun, but for the life of me I can't imagine what that would be..........

Welcome to the forum.

Just a suggestion, write down everything you now know about it and anything more you find out, and keep it with the gun for future generations of your family.

Not worth more than $3-400 depending on percent of original blue finish, since so many were made, but a priceless heirloom to you and family.
