So I have this smith revolver 15-2 and it has the rose color cylinder and barrel. Can anyone explain why it’s like that and also notice the Smith logo not perfect either. I have Pacmeyer grips for it. Thanks in advance.

Definite refinish and the S&W stamp looks like it was partially ground down during the process. Also looks like the two aft sideplate screws have taken some abuse. It should still be a good shooter, assuming the internals are good.

Previous owner didn’t take care of it and attempted to clean it up rather poorly. Even the screws were buggered.

I am afraid to look at the internals because I am guessing a trigger job was attempted to.

Good thing if it's been "tuned" you can get parts pretty easy for smiths. I picked up a 38/44 HD had to replace parts. Parts got ground so much cylinder wouuld rotate backwards! I been told now they use a chemical process to remove bluing and dont kill the gun polishing it.

I have an old Model 15 that was a Police trade in. It has the plum cylinder and barrel. I asked Jim Hoag once why that would be, and he said it had to do with the nickel content of the steel and the temps at which they got blued.

It has never bothered me.
