Inherited .38 Special CTG

I am the lucky recipient of a beautiful .38 Special CTG. The number on the base of the grip is BAB2591 and the yoke shows 6644X. 3" barrel. Any info on year and possibly value? No way I am selling, but curious about it. Thanks in advance. Pics below

I believe you will find the Model is "Mod 64-3" on the yoke cutout of the frame . . . just opposite the yoke where you discovered the 6644X. Based on the non-pinned barrel it would be after 1981 and based on the serial number BAB2591 it would likely be from 1988.

The 3" Model 64 is a favorite of mine and many others here on the Forum.

Looks like a Model 64. 3 inchers are pretty hot items these days. I'd estimate value at around $550-$600. Someone will be along soon with year it was shipped.

You are correct - it has Mod 64-3 stamped inside the yoke area. Gun is in very good shape - Dad loved his guns and really took care of them. Gun fires nicely and is fairly accurate, even with a newbie firing it. Thanks for the fast response - you guys are awesome.

Most likely shipped first quarter 1988.
