Inside Barrel Dia.

Can anyone help me? I want to measure the inside barrel Dia and I know that I can slug them but wondered if there is a tool that will do the job? I also would like to measure ridge to ridge and groove to groove. Thank you in advance.

You can measure land to land with pin gages (what you called ridge to ridge).

For groove to groove, the best way is to slug the barrel and use the special micrometer to measure the 5 land S&W pattern. A standard micrometer or caliper will not do the job accurately. If you send your slug to Matt Dardas from Dardas Cast Bullets, he has the correct tool and will measure it for your at no cost.

Jepp2 is correct. You can't measure a five groove slug without a machinist's V-block.

And the V-Block needs to be the proper degrees for a 5 flute measurement. Another option if you have the $ is:
