I recently purchased a used S&W Model 60 in .357 Magnum, j-frame stainless. Does anyone know if this gun was sold new as a Magnaported revolver? Did S&W do any collaboration/partnering projects on revolvers like this? Note the factory box label references “MAGNAPRTD”. I love it regardless, but would love to know if models like this were shipped to retailers already ported (special order?) or if it was done by a previous owner. Also, does anyone know the mfg date based on the serial number? Thanks in advance for your expert insight.

Cool gun. Photo 4 appears to show a factory label with "MAGNAPRTD" so I suspect it is a factory job :).

The Special Order Code shows it was packed and ready to ship on the 94th day of 2006, or April 4.

Based on the box it appears to have been magna ported before being shipped from the factory. The standard catalog lists the product code as magna ported and by perhaps more than one distributor. The date would be April 4th, 1996 based on the Julian date on the box. Nice gun, enjoy it.

murphydog types faster. . . .
