How many of you have had the opportunity to think about insurance for the purpose of protecting yourself god vorbid you have to shoot someone? Something that would cover retainer and provide a lawyer. Been thinking more about this lately as I get closer to applying for my CC permit here in Illinois.

Already thought about it. Already done it.

Just feel silly I guess for having to think about this. Dont know why but I feel more anxiety towards the lawyers after the incident than the incident itself. Crazy?

Maybe. But in my area, unless you are well connected (or well represented) - you are going to jail after a "gun incident". Arrest first / Investigate later, seems to be the policy. And they say that Texas is "gun friendly"...

A good criminal defense can be expensive. Unfortunately without it, if involved in a shooting, you will likely be screwed. First the criminal, then the civil proceedings.

IMO, the ideal time to go looking for representation, is before you need it.

Not a personal endorsement, but you might check out Texas Law Shield. They've got a web site that can give you some additional options to consider - regardless of your location:
