interchangeable front sight blade options...

As I get longer in the tooth my eyes don't seem to focus up close as well as they used to. With that being said, I have a few revolvers with the interchangeable front sight blades, and the green f/o inserts work well for me. The main obstacle that I have now is trying to find a green .250" in stock anywhere. Been looking mainly for Hiviz (SW3001G), and they seem to be all gone, at least the reasonably priced ones. I do see some in .208" and .310", but wonder if they will work within the adjustment range of the rear sights at normal distances. I wanted to stay with the .250" height since my guns shoot well with them. Anyone have any experience changing height, or are there other brands that work well? TIA...

If the .250 works well with the rear height. You gotta stay with it. Anything else and then, you have to mess with the elevation screw and your rear blade may need to be replaced to run with them.

Have you checked midway and brownells? They usually have them.

Neither has the .250" green. I have been on a Midway back order for 4 months, and still nothing. I looked thru 8 pages on the web, and found a few for around $45+ bucks, but no thanks. Might just try a red one, but the green really stands out for me..

I have had good luck with sdm and dawson ordered direct from them.They came with red installed with red & green replacement.

SDM has the DX style/interchangeable fiber front blades in .250" & .300".

I put a red one on my 625PC & 629 Classic.

They have green too.

Dawson's front sight is short (in length, not height) than SDM's sight, which I didn't like the look of.
