I've had my 500 since March '08 (SKU #163500), and I've never been able to get the front sight off. I've asked S&W's Customer Service people about it and they just say it will come off by pushing back on it and pulling up, which works fine on my 460 but doesn't budge the sight on the 500.
I've tried gently tapping on the sight blade with a rubber mallet on the top, front and back in case it was simply stuck, but it made no difference.
The website states the 163500 does have an interchangeable front sight, but I notice that my gun does not have the small hole just under the front of the sight that my 460 does, and the ones on the website all show as well.
Anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions?
