Interesting 10-2 (pic)

I don't have this one in hand yet, but bought it on GunBroker. It has the trigger guard screw for the bolt stop, according to the SC of S&W puts it at 1962 or prior. The seller knew nothing about it, I believe it will turn out to be a 10-2 and not a 10-0. I am also thinking it should have had diamond Magnas that were probably lost to history or sold seperately.

The backstrap is marked "EAST CLEVELAND PD" which adds a lot of cool factor. It is also the most recent RB 6" M10 I have seen. I guess whoever ordered the service revolvers for East Cleveland PD thought 6" RB's were a good overall choice, and I thoroughly agree

I've had a serious soft spot for the 6" 10's since I got my first Model 10, a 6" 10-5 a few years back. I also love RB's so this was a no brainer for me, the $300 price tag didn't hurt much either

It does look like a 5". The tape measure will tell all! BTW, I'm getting to really like PD revolvers. I have two and they both letter to the respective PD. Usually inexpensive guns, mechanically in very good shape and has a community connection. What's not to like?

Hmmmm, a 5" would be an even bigger bonus! I didn't have one of those! I'll only really know when I get it, but now that you mention it, the barrel looks of equal length from the locking lug outwards to each end of the muzzle and to the frame.

I had wanted a 4" RB taper barrel for a while, but always thought a 5" would be a little better balanced, so maybe I got lucky with this one......

I also love ex-PD guns, my first S&W was a Dallas - Ft. Worth Airport Police 67-1 I bought 7 years ago and I just never stopped looking for them.......I like a S&W that's been "out there" and actually been used, rather than one that sat in someone's basement for 40 years.

Prices are usually reasonable for PD trade ins, given the holster wear and most collectors want minty guns, not scuffed, dinged, holster rashed guns. I love them though! PD property marks are a huge plus for me. Stuff like the NYPD 64's are becoming collectible though, but ones marked for other cities don't tend to carry a premium.
