Interesting article about Toyota hybrids

Toyota has always produced solid vehicles. Boring as he!!, but high quality. Their hybrid program (including Lexus) is probably the best of any current manufacturer. Great foresight, engineering and execution on their part.
The DC push for full electric (vehicles, HVAC and appliances, etc.) is so ill-conceived and shortsighted it's frightening. As a nation, we have become a rudderless boat adrift in dangerous waters.

My 2016 Toyota Camry XLE does look pretty boring but not boring at all when you step on the gas. It has the 3.5 V-6 (265 hp)
with dual exhaust. Only about 10% were made with V-6. O-60 in under 6 seconds with lots of torque. Unbelievably smooth quick quiet acceleration - in the old days it would have been called a sleeper.

I can see the utility of a hybrid that is not plug in. The savings when our cars are already paid for and likely have 100K plus miles eft in them is not worth the change right now.

Brought back. :)

The other half is seriously checking out the Lexus (Toyota) RX350h, hybrid. Not the plug in version.

One friend had that model a few years ago but grandchildren forced him to go to the 3 row version, unavailable in a hybrid. He loved the RX350h and said he would get another.

Called another of my ROMEO buds who bought a Highlander, but is sorry he didn't go for the hybrid.

I've had this Toyota Aqua (Prius C) as our car in Japan since 2012. For what it is — compact, economical transportation — zero problems:

I am 6'2", 230, and find it comfortable. Great car for around town. At highway speed it is noisy, being so light, and has anemic acceleration, but it'll cruise at 75 all day, once you get there, no problem. 50+ MPG and range of ~500 miles.

I think one result of the push for EVs is that it has caused more consumers to realize the benefits of hybrid technology.
