What are your thoughts on this Model 559 with what seems to be a very low serial number.

I have seen one letter on a 559 that says there were 130 frames made to test the tooling for the Model 559.

The SCSW says that 112 were released as 147A and I have read that one frame was destroyed in testing and that one shipped (to Europe) as a Model 47. That leaves 16 frames unaccounted for.

I found it interesting that its letter states the Model 559 was introduced a A672725

and also that this one was not shipped to a distributor but was purchased by an employee of S&W.

Is this one of the unaccounted for frames?

Wow, did you just get this or is this a neat relic that you've had for a while?

Extremely cool, but the first thing that caught my eye was that it not only has the ambi right side decock lever, but that this paddle is affixed with the small hex-head screw which (seemingly...?) was the second try for S&W in this role, as most everyone is familiar with the big, gangly, ugly philips-head machine screw, which nobody likes. For good reason. :)

Can you imagine if someone were to find this actual Model 47 marked pistol that was last seen floating around Europe?
