Interesting Memorial weekend

...getting creamed from the rear and ending up in a ditch, all was quiet...
Yeah, I didn't mention what happened to me on the way up TO the lake.
I was riding my 1983 Goldwing and pulled over onto the shoulder of the road to turn into a driveway. I wanted to call my wife to let her know I was probably going to stop at a couple of garage sales on the way and so I might be a little later than expected.
Just as I was about to turn in WHAMMO!
A 17 year old kid in a 2000 Lexus RX300 hit me in my left saddlebag and ripped it and its support bars almost off the bike, busted a hole in the trunk, and bent the left side exhaust to the point it almost drags the ground.
I didn't get hurt and the bike is repairable - though I am still waiting for his insurance carrier (Liberty, Liberty, Liberty) to schedule the inspection.
I just hope they don't drag their feet. I want to get my bike fixed ASAP so I don't miss out on too much riding weather.

Don't you know you're supposed to block out plate # lol. Cracks me up when people do that. On the bright side, now you have an excuse to get a V Twin American ride.

Yeah, I never understood that one either. Anybody who wants my plate number can snap a cellphone picture of it at any time - and what are they going to do with it anyway?

As for getting a Hog, I'm not going to get that kind of scratch out of this deal, and there's no way I'm gonna pony up the difference. My wife doesn't like bikes anyway, so there's no chance she's going to go along with my buying a Harley for $5k-$10k.

I'm just busting chops anyway. I grew up on Hondas. My first bike was a 76 XL75. I've had a half dozen Honda ATCs. Still have a mint 84 Honda Big Red. I had an Inteceptor 500 for a min but traded for a V Max in early 90s. Truth be told your Goldwing is much more comfortable than my Fatboy.

I kind of cut my teeth on Hondas too. The first bike my dad bought was an old 305 Dream with the big cast fenders. I learned to ride it when I was just 10 (I was big for my age). I had a Honda 90 for a while, and rode a CB550F for a couple of years.
Also had a couple of Kawsaki's and a Suzuki. Then I got this old Goldwing last summer. I've really been enjoying it - until this kid rear-ended me. :(
