A nickel Model 27 is not that common. IIRC, my 5" has the "N" stamped on the cylinder under the extractor star.

The red post Patridge seems a bit odd on 3-1/2" gun and may have been changed out (notice the proud pin), but S&W did offer any available sight at the time. The back of the sideplate near the hammer looks a bit buggered, but the stocks look excellent.

I inquired about the sideplate prior to the auction closing and they replied and said there was no issues and that it must be a reflection. After they told me this, I took a second look and thought that could be the case; a reflection off of the hammer and off of the stocks.

I also noticed the proud pins but sometimes, especially on nickel guns with blued front sights (so I have noticed) the pins are usually proud....it does seem like an odd combination though.....but it makes it pretty neat.....

On second thought, you couldn't very well drop a red post front sight into a bluing tank, so even on a factory special order the sightblade pin would have to be proud. I guess only a letter would tell for sure.

Most 3-1/2" and 5" guns had a ramp front sight and the sight attaching pin would be ground flush before bluing. The sight base pins should be proud on these nickel guns.

Looks like Coke grips too! Somebody got a nice piece! Never mind, was looking at the wrong gun. However, the one listed was still very nice. If all original, I would suspect a special order gun given that the target hammer, trigger and front sight were not standard on the Model 27 at that time.
