Was planning on going to the range today, but I had to send my new M&P 15 OR off to the mothership for some loading issues. So instead I took my daughter out for lunch, and to buy her some shoes for her graduation. For giggles I stopped by my local Dick's Sporting Goods. I have only been in there twice before, and never for anything shooting related, and have suffered sticker shock both times. I made my way to "The Lodge" upstairs and was impressed. They had 2 examples of M&Ps - the OR, and the 15T, some Bushmasters, and Stag Arms Model 1 and 3 on display, as well as 3 variants of the 15-22, the A1, the MOE, and the Camo. An employee showed me the recently added display case full of Blackhwawk, and Troy tactical goodies. Then I walked over the ammo isle which is usually a no-no. They had PMC Bronze .223 for $7.49/20, AE .223 for 8.49/20, and Remington UMC .223 55gr for 21.99/50. They also had 420 rounds of xm855 in the .30 cal ammo cans for 179.00. Considering what I see online and at other local stores I was quite impressed with these price. The rifles were also VERY competively priced. Just thought to let everyone know that if you have a Dick's you might want to stroll in. They dont sell guns or ammo online, so you dont know any pricing until you go in the store. I bought 100 rounds of PMC to try when my OR gets back to me. I have no affiliation with Dick's :D

My local Dick's also just put in the rack of overpriced tacticool junk. I go in there to look if I happen to be passing by, but have never once felt an urge to overpay for their ammo or guns.

High prices, lame selection, crappy service. What's to like?

I am in agreement about Dick's overall, but they had ammo and rifles CHEAPER than anyone else in my area. And the PMC Bronze was only .50 per box more expensive then the cheapest I could find online ... add in shipping and it was a wash. All I was sayin' .. ;)

In March, I was in Virginia; the Dick's Sporting goods in/ near Fredericksburg had some really good prices.

I have not one but two Dick's within 10 miles of me...both are as Jldukes stated. I have long since figured out that there is nothing in Dick's that is worth my time and energy to park and walk into the store.

Every once in a while, Dicks will have AMMO on sale at a decent price. Everything else is overpriced, especially cleaning supplies.

I bought a couple hanging tree stands & climbing sticks at my local Dick's a couple years ago. They had them marked down at a really good price.
That's the only time I've ever spent money there - I can't afford the place.
Sometimes I wonder why they don't just charge admission at the door, looking at the prices, they're proud enough of their merchandise. Why not charge people to look at it?

WOW!!!! What planet is this Dick's Sporting Goods on?? The one in my area only has maybe one M&P 15-22 and nothing but high priced .223 ammo with NO AR accessories. You sir are lucky to have a store like that near you.;)

Our local Dick's has turned into a yuppy store, mainly exercise equipment and high prices clothes and sneakers. Not much is hunting or fishing equipment.

The Only Dicks I have been into was just like Rebs said....nothing for me there, although I could probably use a treadmill LOL

I bought three Marlin 795's for me, my wife and nephew for an Appleseed shoot (next weekend, can't wait) at Dicks...the price was the best I could find, even considering online buying.

Jimsky If I may ask what did you pay for them,, I have been wanting one?

Same up in Massachusetts. All goods high priced. But, once in a while you walk by the ammo, and wow, nice sale, cheaper than Wally World.

I live near Richmond, Va. I was VERY surprised by the prices. They only thing I saw with a sale price was the Remington UMC 55gr. Just like everyone else I completely disregarded the place because of their prices and selection. I might be slipping by there a little more often now. ;)

There is one beside the shoe store my wife spends most of my paycheck in. I go in when I'm with her to kill time. Havn't found the need to spend any $ in there but I do check it out just in case they are giving away free stuff. Sadly enough this has yet to happen...but one never knows. Either way beats watching her try on THE SAME PAIR OF SHOES 20 TIMES!!!!

The first one was $149, the two others were $10 cheaper if I recall right. There has been Marlin rebate (about once a year) that reduces the buy in even more. Excellent gun for the money, throw on some Tech Sights and you have a great marksmenship training tool.
