Internet Wood

Most S&W collectors I know also can't pass up a great pair of stocks. I thought I would share with you some of the stocks I have obtained via the internet (this Forum and ebay mostly). The first photo (top row) shows K-frame stocks of rosewood (checked and smooth), zebrawood (rare) and the last pair of maple (rare). The bottom row shows N-frame stocks of rosewood and Goncalo alves. The second photo shows N-frame stocks of cocobolo, rosewood, and Goncalo alves and a pair of Keith Brown stocks made for a pre-war N-frame.

I used to look for stocks for my revolver collection, but now I search for stocks made of rare wood or are otherwise unique.

I have some AWESOME wood for grips, but I dont know who can make them or where can I get the machine to make my own? that last part is kinda expensive but I digress, I have some awesome Maple, Koa, Sapele, Bubinga, etc.

Ahrends will use your wood for a $10-20 extra charge, seems very reasonable.

As an expert on these maybe the OP can answer a question for me. Ive seen Keith Brown grips listed for big bucks on ebay when compared to other grips. Why is that ? Thanks

Pointshoot....Keith Brown is one of the premier makers of S&W stocks today. He uses the best types of exotic wood and his work is flawless in fit and finish. Usually, there is a fairly long waiting period to receive a pair of stocks made by him. I can only say his charges reflect the quality and uniqueness of product he provides.

Awesome wood Bill! I must ask, did you recently purchase the maple magnas? if so, I was bidding against you on ebay!

Those are really nice to look at. I guess I'm the same way about my chess pieces. If I'm going to sit and stare at them I want them to be good looking wood any day over plastic. I do have rubber Pachmeyer grips on my revolver, though.
