Great! Congratulations! Just a tip, don't mention you are an active member of this forum.......they will probably brand you as a malcontent and potentially violent. I know, my own prejudices about the school system showing!

Good luck with the interview!! I used to be on the school board of our small town, and interviewing potential teachers was one of our functions. You see all kinds, but we always paid the closest attention to those that dressed in a business-like conservative manner. I hope all goes well, GOOD teachers are hard to land.
I hear you. When I interview (if I get through the phone interview and actually make it to the face-to-face one) and they ask about hobbies I pretty much leave firearms out of the discussion. You never know what the person interviewing you feels about guns. Too much of a hot button. Much safer to say thing like reading, the symphony, "how 'bout them Seahawks", etc. Stuff that won't get you crossed off the short list. Heck, I don't even mention the Huskies - the interviewer could be a Coug.

Building entry to exit took all of 14 minutes including my stop to pee. Interview time: 9 minutes. It went well. Seemed like a formality to tell the truth. I'm not worried about them finding out I own guns. It was Sealy, TX, after all. it probably helps. When the hiring party walked me out to the car, I asked how long is it typically before they call to arrange orientation after a decision is made. He said a couple of weeks, and that I would definitely be hearing from them. I take that as a positive.
I still think if we had a few teachers carrying concealed on campus, trained to deal with "situations" but no one knew who...schools would be safer.

I made my comment without realizing you were interviewing in Texas! Wearing a nice old Colt with a ranger's badge inset in the grips would probably have put you in good standing with the team! Keep us posted, we are all rooting for you!
