Greetings from the heartland. :D Last week, I asked my wife about where her dad's snub nose 38 spl. was. She didn't know. Dug through her closet, and found some S&W grips. Kept digging and there it was, with rubber grips, and a box of old military ball ammo. Looked to be in very nice shape, and I just had to shoot it. ;) It's been over 20 years since I did some pistol shooting, but I really enjoyed it. Looking through the archives, I can't find the age of it for sure. The stock grips felt better to me..

But the serial number is different than what I'm finding.

Looking at the price of ammo.... I drug out the old Lee press, and ordered some stock to reload for it. Just what I need, another time consuming hobby..:D
At any rate, can anyone tell me the date of mfg?
TIA..
Chuck

Well, I don't know much about guns. :D Grew up with them when I was a kid on the farm, and they were tools, not toys. We had a hand to mouth existence, and my 22 and full choke 410 put rabbits and squirrels in the freezer.
I don't hunt any more, modern farming methods here make it tough enough for critters, and I don't need the food. I used to hunt quail, mainly to watch the dog work (German wirehair) but the blizzard of 78 pretty much wiped out the quail.
So. The only shooting I've done in years is to control the groundhawgs and critters that get in the garden. :)
Now, I *do* know a fair amount about building and restoring airplanes, and Moto Guzzi motorcyles...
