Introduction and question

Hi, I'm Wes. I acquired a S&W 13-2 for $100 during the summer. I've heard they're more of a 38 special that can shoot 357 magnums. If I do put 357's through it how do I go about maintaining this gun?

Hi Wes. Welcome to the forum. You're right is saying that it is basically a 38 Special that has the ability of shooting 357 magnum loads. Some folks say that you can shoot any magnum load in them and others say that you should use only the 158 grain mag load. I tend to err on the safe side by using a lot of Specials and keep the mags to 158 grains.

If it's in good shape $100 is a GREAT deal if it's a 4" revolver.
If it's a 3" it's a SMOKIN' good deal!
I have a 3" M13-2 and I shoot Magnums in it whenever I shoot it, which unfortunately is not often. The loads to stay away from, at least for heavy usage, is the 125 Grn. loads. They are hard on the forcing cone of K-Frames.
That said, my K-Frame .357 Magnums are always loaded with 125 Grn. Federals whenever I carry 'em. I just don't shoot a lot of them.
