Introduction, Offbeat question.

I suppose some gold could be handy (!) but I have always thought .22 ammo would be the best currency around if things got squeaky. Even gold's value is somewhat arbitrary. Ammo is...always ammo.

I sure hope all of this stays hypothetical; But nothing says it has to.

When would you contemplate digging this stuff up? Would you spring into action when the "S" sorta kinda HTF? If it had already hit said fan, I don't think you would have time to stick around and dig up your stash! :)

I am thinking that all that stuff would serve me better above ground!

I understand that if things really get bad our currency may be worthless or very hard to come by. I also understand that gold probably will keep or increase in value. But if push comes to shove how do you manage to get a fair return on your gold, if you have any, I.e. I have a $20.00 face value gold coin, how do I use it to by gas or food? Person A has the gas or food I need, I have a $20.00 gold coin to pay for the goods with how do I determine the value of the gold in the coin, and how do I cut into pieces to pay for A's goods, or did I just get 5 gallons of gas and a loaf of bread for my $20.000 coin?
In the 1930's many German Jews saw the writing on the wall and stocked up on both gold and high vale jewelry, which was to be used for life saving bribes only. To me this is the only way hoarding gold, other than small amounts just to have, makes any sense.
If any of you can explain this to me please feel free to do so.

p.s. Jimmy you are 100% correct.

Enlist the services of the guy who owns the cemetary. Buy a drawer in the masoleum. Put your stuff in there. Seal it up then kill the guy to keep him from telling your secret.
Thank you ....thank you very much.
