It has to be "extra" before you're allowed to spend it? Durn, why didn't someone tell me that before. I never seem to have "extra", but still manage to get some fun stuff.

I have an AAC Element can for .22 rim fire. The fun wore of kind of quick.
I have several AR's and consider them essential.

I'm a Noveske fan boy. However they are close by to me and I got to know John Noveske and his rifles through the Sheriff's office I worked for.

I always think quality over quantity.
CMP Garand?
Boxed K22?

You need more money but I love my Wilson Combat 1911's I bought in 1996. Shot a lot of different action pistol games with them and would qualify one as an off duty. Every man at some point needs a good dog and a good 1911.

I would probably purchase the 15-22 rather than the M&P 15, and a 4" model 617. Although I have been thinking about a 4" 625 for IDPA. I'm a competition junkie, Steel, ICORE, IDPA and USPSA, so my guns need to be something I can use for competition. I already have a Les Baer 1911, supressors aren't my thing, and would prefer the 15-22 over an AR in 5.56.

Wow, to answer that, I need to kinda know how you plan on shooting the M&P 15/22 (again it's just a 22LR). But I may be able to help you in the right direction see below on the kind of setups you may want to do, and both won't hit your $1200 to $1500 budget range to boot:

1.) Tactical : Leave stock trigger, add Red Dot, front vertical grip or angle grip (Magpul), Magpul BUIS folding Iron sights, purchase CCI Tactical 22lr ammo, Compensator to aid in recoil.

2.) Hunting : Upgrade trigger to 3 lbs., 1X-4X or 3X-9X scope, CCI Tactical 22lr ammo, Jerry Miculek compensator adds weight and helps a little on recoil (also looks cool).

Have fun tricking out the M&P, it was the highlite of my fun for sure.
Keepem in the Xring.

I would buy another 15-22 probably a pc model and stick more into it to make it a target queen.... then a m&p 9mm in black & fde :)

For that cash you can get some top tier firearms. Nothing on that list is an investment per say. Unless there is another AWB threat in which case a couple of M&P.15 Sports would return more money. You'll probably lose money on the rest of your list.

If you had an extra $1200-$1500 to spend/invest what gun or accessory would you buy?

Well, since you mentioned investment, I'll go along those lines @ 1500..

New: 3 NOS CZ 452's

Used: 3 clean, low mileage, prelock S&W K or L frames

This has been discussed before, but...

While the M&P 15 is not a bad AR-15, you specifically asked about an investment, which means resale value and broad market recognition.
Here ya go.

You can get one well within your budget.

i think my next purchase will be a real ar and im leaning towards a 15 sport and tricking it out myself.

Purchase either a SOCOM or Scout - Squad M1a rifle...without question...

I'll probably never use it for its intended purpose, but the kids or grandkids might...November will very likely tell the tale.

Most likely a good AR-15 of acceptable brand name and reliability. Anything left over would probably be used for optics, accessories, etc. :)

My 15-22 is cheap enough to run as is. Don't need another rifle. So a suppressor for my FNP45 Tactical would by my purchase. Anything left over would go for ammo.

Everyone, thanks for your input. I was only thinking that maybe its time for a new addition to my toy box. My 15-22 is already tricked out the way I want it to be right now. My G17 has been worked on and is sweet to shoot. My CC wepon works well and is accurate enough to hit a dime at 25'. So I am thinking, what's next. I do not own nor have I ever shot a 1911. I am not a huge fan of a heavy hand gun but am willing to try and it is a legend so I could be wrong. A M&P 15 would complement his little brother and could share accessories. The suppressor would be cool but not sure if I would use it enough to be worth while. One thing is for certain, I will be getting allot of ammo because my 15-22 is thirsty. Any other suggestions?

I was looking for a .22 handgun and happened on a Sig Sauer 1911 .22 and loved the way it felt in my hand. Needless to say I felt in love with it and had to get a big brother .45 and fell in love with that one also. The 1911s seem to really fit me and I love the way they shoot.
