Maybe a Dark Horse?I was just talking about money with my friend, mainly the money we both had in annuities from two different bargaining units. He’s a widower with no kids, I have my wife and dog here to feed.
But, I asked him, when is it a good time to start pulling out more money for more fun today before I die? I’m 69 and don’t expect to last more than ten years. I would like to trade in my Mustang GT for maybe something with more than 460 HP. (I hear the GT 350 has more power than the Coyote. Someone with better motor head knowledge help me out here.)
So, do we hold back with the shopping spree or what? All situations are different so there are no guarantees.
Some of you are doing better than me, a few worse. My 1 year return is 16.45%.
3 year 16.87% annual average
Lifetime (of account) right at 10% annual average
1 month is now down slightly with today's market drop (-0.12%)
I'm looking at retiring next year (I think), and I'm not too concerned. Fidelity says that if I take 4% a year starting next year I'll have close to 3X what I have now at age 95 in a much worse than average market. Maybe I need to think about taking a bit more than that . . .
Of course leaving some for the wife and son after I'm gone isn't a bad thing, but she has a pretty solid 401k balance of her own. I'd like to get my balance pretty close to zero by the time I'm gone by putting some of the withdrawals into other investments that won't cause a huge tax bill for those left behind. The trick is in knowing how long you'll live, and none of us get to know that ahead of time.

That's not an EVit can beat most any stock automobile on the market.
No, the price is not bad for that performance. Add a little tweak and who knows. Those Stangs sure sound great.I saw that video! I try to ignore his voice, etc. I don’t really care for that teal color but I can’t see it from the driver’s chair! It’s on my short list. Thanks, ladder13! That price is still pretty good considering it can beat most any stock automobile on the market. (There’s also a pretty nice V8 Audi out there.) I think super charged. The Dark Horse Mustang is burning a hole in the pocket for sure!
There's a GT350 in my garage. It's a hoot! Rated power is 526 HP. Redline is 8250 RPM. No automatics were made, just 6-speed manuals. The 5.2 Voodoo engine is a different animal altogether compared to the Coyote. The flat plane crankshaft lets it spin up high and it screams. Certainly some other Horses are supercharged and offer much more power, but the naturally aspirated engine and manual transmission suit me fine.I would like to trade in my Mustang GT for maybe something with more than 460 HP.
