Iraq

Notes a shift to a "training and advisory role". We've heard an end to combat operations before, until we're actually out I'm not putting much stock in it.

It was a useless endeavor from the git-go, and a total waste of good manpower from 1990 on. Started out about oil and money and went downhill from there. I served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm from mid 1990 until mid 1991, from stateside to flying in and out of Dhahran.

Meh. The perpetual war machine is just moving to the Pacific.

Prepare Now for War in the Pacific
The window to prepare for war in the western Pacific is closing quickly. The United States must build and prepare naval forces that can deter China, or defeat it if necessary

Prepare Now for War in the Pacific | Proceedings - July 2021 Vol. 147/7/1,421
...As Admiral Phil Davidson, the former Commander, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, recently warned, we may have six years or less before the People’s Republic of China (PRC) takes action against Taiwan. Some have taken to calling this the “Davidson window.”...

...The Davidson window will close rapidly. We must build a battle force that is ready for war—not in 2045, but by 2025. ...

Build a battle force!? With what money!?
