After I posted a RDS thread last week (11/28), I just found this video by Ken Hackathorn this morning. While I do not know him personally and rarely watch him, after seeing this I felt obligated to post it as a follow up to my thread. He basically makes many of the same points I did, but actually assumes it will always work and left out the failure factors. None the less, interesting to watch!

Thank goodness you cleared this up.

I was thinking you were beginning to warm up to the idea of an RDS after all the previous post/threads.

You can also find videos from Dave Spaulding, Scott Jedlinski and others that are also top of the line firearms instructors who tout the benefit and use of an RDS.

Funny thing is I have one, recent transition, that the firearm itself failed, not the RDS. I have received training and practiced the RDS failing and what to do. Just can't do the same with the firearm. Goes to show nothing is perfect and YOU make the best choice for YOU.

That is what makes this country great.

And the poll is a little one sided considering the audience. Post the same one on a Glock or Sig Forum and you would probably, but I am not sure, get a different result.

Every forum has their followers that believe their gun is the best or thier sighting system is superior.

So what I get out of that is this. Train, a lot. Hmmm sounds like the same thing I've heard regarding firearms regardless of sights, caliber, brand, platform or accessories. Train.

What makes folks think they need an "expert" to tell them they don't need Red Dot sights on a CC piece before they make that decision?

Most folks that are shooters can figure it out for themselves. There are those that need some help and guidance. These are the ones that show up at the range with their new gun in the shopping bag with the receipt still in it and have no clue what to do. Our range officers see this all the time lately. Folks are buying firearms for protection that have never fired a gun before, due to the changing times.
