Is anyone still watching The Walking Dead?

I watch it in the background. Though finally killing off Carl would help but it just keeps dragging on. It has become a show of incompetence and betrayal. The story line is getting old. Kill Negan and get it over with and move on to another story line.

Should have said move on to another community to screw up. Seems like every time they have a good thing going they mess it up.

I watch it, but fast forward a lot.

Still don't understand how a rotting zombie could be hiding in a closet, room, or building and them not know it. Has their sense of smell died? Just like the great multitudes that sneak up on them in the woods.

The show should have ended a couple years ago.

I've been watching since the beginning and I guess I'll ride it out to the end. Although it is getting a bit old.
According to the story line, nobody uses the word zombie because in this world the whole concept of the dead returning to munch on the living was never invented. Until it happened, nobody ever knew of heard of such a thing, so there was no word for it.
Anybody here remember when Max Brook's book "The Zombie Survival Guide" was a big thing? One copy even made the rounds through the forum as a continuous karma. Well, according to Max the reason zombies last so long is because nothing will eat the contaminated flesh. Not animals, insects or even bacteria. So instead of rotting normally, zombies just sort of dry up over a very long period.
The real story line is about normal people trying to survive the Apocalypse or TEOTWAWKI. About how different people or groups cope with the sudden loss of civilization. The zombie epidemic is merely the cause of the situation. The living are what the show is really all about.

I lost interest after the first 4 or 5 seasons. Just got too bloody and unrealistic, in the sense that the prison would have been a perfect place to STAY. Made no sense after they defeated that one guy, stay put, kill off zombies and have a fortress.....

Don't watch as I said earlier.

But they are in Georgia; have the
normal folk made it to Ft. Benning
where they should be able to find
tons of automatic weapons, tons of
ammo, plenty of MREs (to poison the
zombies?) and even some artillery
for the big bangs?

Extra clothing and plenty of amenities
should be available.

I've been watching it essentially from the beginning and I made up for past episodes I had missed.
A couple of observations:

IMO: The writing and scripting has gone way downhill. At this point; there is no known goal of Rick's group and no logical reason they don't get as far away from the Savior's as possible. So I guess they will end up going on mindlessly having one bloody encounter after another.

Commercials: I wonder if anyone has timed the show regarding amount of time devoted to commercials? This show seems to be the worst offender in that category. However; When you stop and realize it's all about the money anyway I guess this falls into place.
I am really thinking about just skipping the whole show and looking at the posted summary on the Internet on Mondays as it's getting more and more difficult to watch.

The zombies were always just a byline story . . .

I dont know? The first 3-4 seasons seemed like it wasnt-at least to me? There was quite a lot more survival going on-then all these bad guy groups started happening and loused things upp. Then again-I really like Negen and his bunch of Negen's, but, ive only heard a couple of episodes-not even watched the screen. I was on the computer playing a game.

Watched it with the boys for the first few seasons......kind of stuck with it..... but when it started up again this year.......couldn't get up the interest. I think the "Fear the Walking Dead" spin-off killed it for me................

After 7 years of wondering in the wasteland.... they still haven't found a Cabela's or Dicks for backbacks, lifestraws etc....... gone to carrying at least the same long guns for mags and ammo....... every AR and .22auto ( IMHO a mandatory second handgun for everyone) would have a suppressor....as noise draws the "Undead"; and as said above every LGS seems to have a bunch.

By now the Zombies should have rotted away..... and the 'crew" would have found a home; started farming and raising cattle. Show would have morphed into a cross of "Danial Boone" and "Gilligan's Island" :D

Feel like they've hit the "can't fix stupid" wall.

;D

I am feeling the same way on all your points. FTWD I lasted three episodes-it should win the award for dumbest show idea ever-surpassing suddenly susan and the view.

Watched some of first season.

But I only like comic zombie films
such as Sean of the Dead.

Serious zombies are a bore but
worse are the people trying to
survive them.

Aint seen that yet, been tempted to pick it up, just never taken the bite. Pardon the intended pun. :D

We watch, but the shows writing has become poor and seems to be getting too full of itself. It has become boringly formulaic.
If you watched from the beginning you have to wonder how stupid the characters are (or how stupid the producers think we are) because they don't seem to retain experience from prior losses.

By now, they THINK we are the Zombies.

they need to get back to basics (Season 1-2 for example-survival) and the sheer terror of doing so. I realize they are no longer really afraid with all they have encountered but--it is getting rather dry and silly. I never saw the outcome with the "city of women" or the "garbage dump troop."

there hasn't been any outcome regarding the women group, as for the dump group, except for their weirdo leader they no longer exist.

The honest truth.

Watched a few episodes from the first season. Got bored soon.

Not a big fan of the Python either. Much prefer the OP.

yeah as noted earlier, "Shaun of the Dead" is a good fun zombie flick.

And if one desires watching zombies that aren't the old/slow walker type but instead are incredibly fast, there's always the movie "World War Z" (I actually enjoy that one).

How did Carl go? I may or may not continue with this show by watching season 8 when it comes out on In Demand or whatever. So much time invested now I feel like I may have to continue, but it started sliding a season or 2 ago.

Carl ended up infected and was very ill. In the end he committed suicide.

That movie was pretty good. Read the book by Max Brooks. Its so much better! BTW: the only thing the book and movie have in common is the title.

Like others here have said, after the first season I had, pretty much, figured out what going to happen for the next seven seasons.

I remember at one point-or maybe several, they intentionally strayed from the comics? but then, I don't read the comics either.

Got bit by a walker while saving a character named Saddiq, who is presented as Middle Eastern. Hid it as long as he could, apparently shot himself in the head to save Rick from "stopping the turn"

Before I got into it on Netflix, I figured it was a dumb show idea too, but the first few seasons dealing with human survival were addictive. That and the fact they weren't afraid to kill off popular characters. By Season 6 the script had really started going down hill.
