Is CCI .22 Ammo Really That Much Better?

I found Cci Mini Mags worked best in my 22A. Once I tried Cci Blazer and had about 15% FTF's. It seemed like the store was trying to unload them on me so it may have been a storage issue.

while we're on the subject of CCI .22 ammo. Some time back i was reading an article regarding storage life of ammo. It mentioned that .22 ammo didn't store as long as centerfire ammo because over time the wax lube would melt and contaminate the powder charge. they recommended that if you wanted to stock up on rimfire ammo for emergencies that you went with CCI because suposedly the wax they used had a much higher melt point. Don't know how true it is but hey, it was on the internet so it should be true.

It's all in how you store it. Cool dry and in a sealed ammo can. I found two old ammo boxes, one was full of Wildcats (500 round bricks) and one full of Thunderbolts. The price still marked on the wildcat's was $4.95 a brick from Pomida. Those are all at least 35 years old. Thought, oh ****,at least they were cheap....Tried them out and they ALL shoot just fine. So it's ALL in how they are stored. Propper storage, they should almost last forever. And a side note. The Thunderbolts made today,I'd NEVER touch. Those old Thunderbolts shoot great. Problem is Remington outsourced the 22's off shore and the quality control went with them. New Thunderbolts SUCK.

I'll spend the cash if I need to, but I have thousands of rounds of Thunderbolt, Rem Golden Bullet, Winchester HV, and Federal Bulk. Shot 300 rounds of Winchester HV, Federal Bulk, and Golden Bullet today in my M&P22. Golden Bullet had the best reliability, with 100%, but the other two were very good. Golden Bullet held slide open on empty mag every time, while the other two had issues with that. At 25 yards, shots from all three were hitting into the kill zone, say a 5 inch spread. I'll go for the CCI if I can get improvement, but wonder how much better it will be.

I get great results with Federal Bulk and did shoot some of the same as you in my 22's. High Standard Victor-22,Ruger 10-22,M&P 22 and M&P 15-22. BUT,the Top Dog (with-out going into the high $$$ target ammo), is CCI. They've ALWAYS been reliable with little if any problems and most consistant punching holes in paper and hunting.

My experience over the years is that CCI 22LR (Mini Mags, AR Tactical, Pistol Match, etc) is better than comparable offerings from other makers for most of my shooting. CCI seems to be more reliable, cleaner, more consistent, and is usually accurate in a variety of guns.

My M&P15/22 is somewhat picky about ammo but runs like a champ on CCI. The M&P22 pistol runs most ammo with a round nose bullet, but you can actually tell when shooting that the CCI ammo cycles the gun more consistently than most of the bulk pack promo stuff. My old Ruger MkII will run about anything, lol.

I use federal bulk in my 15-22 cause its cheap, but my mp22 stovepipes it constantly, so she gets mini-mags and eats them like buttered pancakes
