Is Cheaper Ammo Coming Back?

Cheaper, yes. Cheap no.
When I think cheap, I think of the various caliber battle packs you could pick up for $30 shipped. I believe those days are done, and those days were not all that long ago.

It seems to be coming down some compared to what it was a year ago. I've shot a lot of the Russian Monarch (I keep trying to call it Mallard for some reason) purchased from the same store there on Hwy 49 that I think you went to. They occassionally purchase a truckload of this stuff and use it for a come on to get people in the store. It works with me. For $160.00 I'll buy another case of it. I haven't had any problems shooting it in a Beretta 92 FS, S&W M&P 9, 5903, or Kahr.

It is getting cheaper in the same sense that gasoline is getting cheaper.... actually nothing but a slow rise in the long run.

Sooner or later the current trend will end and there will be a glut on the market. Hopefully this will lower price's.

i wish i had bought a train load a few years ago, im working on loading 4000 9mm now, and have a few k 223 so im not with out, getting primers is still not easy here

Cabela's in Hammond has fully stocked shelves of everything but 22 bricks. 100 wwb 9mm for 27.99 I can live with that.

Obama mania fueled the shortage of ammo....
China's buying precious metals fueled the price hike too.

A line from one of my favorite John Wayne movies, Chisum:

Bandit: "So if you want these horses, I sell them to you. Did you bring some gold with you?"
Chisum: "No."
Bandit: "Silver?"
Chisum: "Just lead!"
Lead is a valuable commodity. ;)

Ammo has become vastly cheaper for me.
I got a casting pot and put all those moulds I had stashed to good use.

Cabela's had a store/catalog/internet $20 off $101 purchase coupon. Good until 1/11/10. Google Cabela's may be the first item up.

Yeah, I just bought some JHP for my 9 and 45 on sale + the $20 off $100

It's just like gas prices. After getting raked over the coals last year ae $4.00/gal.......we're happy to pay $2.50/gal! Seems like we're getting a break.....now. Not really though! We were moaning about paying $2.25.....until, it went up to $4.00!!!!! Now, it's still higher....as usual.

Same thing with ammo prices. After not being able to get any ammo, for the last couple years.....we'll gladly pay more....now. Bob

High price ammo is a liberal plot...they want to make ammo so expensive that it will be cheaper to hand over your money to some poor unfortunate mugger than to shoot him since he was forced into a life of crime by society.

Supply & Demand

If people would STOP buying ammo for even a month...we would see prices drop.

I've been bullet casting again...REALLY dropped my pistol ammo cost down to nothing compared to jacketed rds.

The high ammo prices have rekindled my interest in reloading. I loaded 80 rounds of 45-70 this week to use in my Guide Gun. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Hopefully it will get me to the range more often.
