I think the M66 is my favorite pistol. Are those original grips or after market? I see you are in Rodeo. I once lived in Kansas Settlement, over the mountain from you, south of Willcox.

Is it a keeper?...depends how it shoots, take it to the range & give us a report.

My M-66-3 came with wood grips, but I've used both Uncle Mike's and Pachmayr Presentation grips. I sightly prefer the latter, if they're the older (two pieces) form.

Both are far superior to the wooden Goncalo alves grips, for shooting. The gun feels MUCH better in the hand, and recoil is somewhat lessened with the synthetic grips. And I don't bang the grips up on the car door and trees and whatnot.

As for the question, the M-66 is my favorite revolver of all time, and mine IS a keeper. It would be tha the last firearm I'd sell, if I ever got in a tight financial spot.

WARNING-

The Uncle Mike's and similar synthetic holsters may abrade the finish on your gun. I prefer leather holsters, for that reason.

Of the synthetic ones that I've tried, the Bianchi Ranger was the best. I would choose it if I was working/living in a tropical region of rain forest or cloud forest or on a boat at sea.

You will then also REALLY appreciate the stainless gun concept.

I think that the model 66 is one of the most efficient firearms ever made. Like a dumb*** I sold mine a couple of years ago to finance another firearms project. Nice score, most certainly a keeper.

My 3" 66 is by FAR my favorite S&W. Nice revolver you have and again it should be a keeper. Best revolver S&W has ever made IMO.

I had one just like it several years ago, but like so many other Smith's I've owned, I traded it off not knowing they were going to put that stupid lock on or get rid of the blue versions. NICE gun, definately keep it!

Great find! I believe the Model 66 would make it onto a lot of knowledgeable shooters lists of "If I only had one ..."

You have a very nice one.

Regards,

Jerry
