I acquired a smith & wesson model 37 in nickel 2 years ago.
It has serial number j6xxxxx.
Don't know date of manufacture and do know there were some frame crack issues. Would love to carry and shoot this gun.
Any info is appreciated on manufacture date and if this gun should
NOT be shot.
thanks

It was made in 1977 and yes it's safe to shoot any factory ammo in it.

many thanks.

:) I think in the very early years of manufacture they
made some 37's with alloy cylinders. These did crack so
S&W started making the cylinders out of steel. Yours
will be OK to shoot. Don
