Is S&W Slowly Producing More "No-Lock" Models?

It's a very useful site, I go there often. I even have the mobile app, but I found another one, Legal Heat, better to use on my Android.

I probably should have looked at either of those first, but as you note, CA is convoluted. As I recall in New York, a CCW permit issued outside the city is NOT valid inside the city.

Believe me, that's not such a dumb question for CA with it's convoluted gun laws.

Yes, if you manage to snag a CA CCW it's good throughout the state.

Here's a great website for CCW info period... not just CA. (the concealed carry resources tab is especially helpful):

Concealed Carry - Resources, Maps, Forums, Articles - USA Carry

There's no dumb questions in regards to being legal when you're carrying. That's the best thing we can do as gun owners to maintain a positive public image.

With apologies to the OP for the thread drift...

Sigh... oh how I so wish that was true. CA is one of the few hold out states that have not changed their CCW laws from "may issue" to "shall issue".

Additionally... 2 of the requirements that need to be met:

1. Upon proof that the person applying is of good moral character
2. That good cause exists for the issuance

Those have been interpreted widely between counties and what constitutes meeting them is up to the local LE authority.

In the SF Bay Area counties you have less odds of getting a CCW than winning the Power Ball lottery. Up in rural Northern CA, like Modoc County... getting a CCW is hardly breaking a sweat.

Sorry, maybe I should have said "virtual shall issue". Outside of certain coastal areas, the state is actually pretty CCW friendly. Unfortunately I live in a "no issue" county
