Is Safariland 527 Holster IDPA compliant?

I'm going to go with no..... On the sole basis that it is not a "secure" holster. However I may be wrong and someone with better knowledge may know different.

As I understand the holster must have a rigid top and secure the gun from accidentally falling out. Trigger and guard must be covered. The link photo would cause me to say no with some confidence to that model. IDPA rules balance safety with what they desire defensive scenarios to be as practice. Thank goodness. Look up the requirements in the IDPA rule book for absolute clarity.

Absolutely 100% legal for IDPA! Meets all the criteria stipulated in the latest rules.

Have fun and be safe.

Adios,

Well, I'd tend to agree it is legal, but a couple of concerns.
The holster and gun must now be evaluated while being worn by the shooter, so it could be legal on one person and not on another. One problem crops up when a too-round middle causes the gun to slant too far our. Also, the entire front strap to the trigger guard must be above the level of the belt, which cannot be seen for sure from the picture.

IMHO, the Yaqui Slide type holsters are not the best for IDPA; the front sight tends to catch on the bottom edge of the holster unless drawn just right.

Have you looked at the Safariland 568 (paddle)/569? I have this for revolvers.
The most popular IDPA holsters for semi-autos are the CompTac and Blade Tech.

As OKFCO5 said...It IS a legal holster, however there are many much better choices for IDPA for equal or less money. Most of my herd rides in Kramer #3 or Milt Sparks VM-2
