These seem to be almost non-existent in the marketplace, regardless of which model you're looking for.

I can understand huge backorder issues with the Ruger 1911 clones because they are just starting production of these but Smith has been building 1911's for a few years now. The model I've been looking for (108482) has been out of stock everywhere for quite some time with some folks saying they haven't been able to get any since the beginning of March, 2011. I don't mind paying a bit more for in demand models but I would like to keep my eye balls in the sockets. I went thru this with the Model 29's in the 1970's and anything which fed from a magazine in the mid 1990's.

I just brought a Ta home last Thursday. He had a black, that one is mine, a SS and one other SS without the rail. Hope you find one I love mine.
Be safe, Frank.

108482 is sitting next to me, picked it up yesterday at my LGS. He received it Wednesday from his supplyer. The fired shell date envelope is dated 9\20\2011. Cost me $785 plus tax. It was in the showcase next to a new Remington 1911 which was going for around $675, after checking both out... for the money, it was a no brainer. I now have SW1911sc4",1911sc4" again, 1911pd4",1911pd5" and 1911 E series 5". I need more... I want the es model with the shorter grip and a 4" E series with the bobbed grip.

Turbo38gn,
You know what they say... Without pictures it (your 108482) doesn't exist. :)

Where are you in Western Mass? I grew up in Amherst.

Howdy Bud.... I'm in West Springfield, 10 minutes from Smith and Wesson. Here's my new one along with The 45 semi family...:) are these good enough for pics... :)

Well, I guess that we've established that one fellow on this board managed to buy one of fairly recent production. That would be "one".

Very nice collection of 1911's.

Thanks, I've been lucky to be in the right place at the right time. I've found several of the previous, like new SW 1911's for around $650 and had to buy em... These 1911's are just beautiful guns.

As for my ONE gun, they are out there, obviously SW builds more guns than most anyone out there and is becoming more popular everyday. It's not a surprise to see them not be able to keep up demand. Chill out, you'll find one if you really want one...

Nice, do we know each other, where in WS... graduated in 71.

It's possible. Lived on Labelle St in the 50's and early 60's. Moved to NJ in 1966. I would have graduated WSHS in 1969.

"By the way, a quick hit on GB brought up at 15 of them."

Please refer to my original "eyeballs" comment. Actually, that isn't a large number in view of the number of E-series models being cataloged. Please also note that the model 108482 that I'm looking for has a starting bid of $979. The other had a "Buy it now" of $875. In view of the fact that these are selling for between $750 & $795 when they can be found at LGS's, that's getting up there a little, after you figure in shipping, insurance and transfer fees.

Such is life.

I'm not going to buy a 1911. I'm not going to buy a 1911. (Repeat 1000 times). They sure look nice, though!

Keep telling yourself..... I said the same thing...... but then when ya see em dressed up... :) I know it's a pretty sucky picture, but it sure is nice in person. That's the 3rd 1911 from the left in my family picture after I changed the grips..
