9mm Pro Series (not a CORE) 5" barrel. Recoil spring is painted a light blue. Wondering what the reason is???

I think they ran out of red.:)

But seriously, I think the colors are used to identify the spring rate and/or particular firearm it fits as a way to reduce mistakes on a production line. I think my M&P 9mm spring is blue, too. They might use a different color for an M&Pc, another for a 45, 9mm, 40, etc.

Yep, spring weight is what I think I read. My 9c is yellow/green ( I'm a little color blind ). But not blue.

To distinguish it from the green colored springs, like the ones that are currently coming in the .40s, which actually will lead me to start another thread that I'm not sure anyone actually has the answer too....

Doc,

I'm working on the answer for this one and I'll post it in the M&P Production Updates Thread http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-...duction-updates-slide-stops-barrels-sear.html when the facts are sorted out but here is what I have found so far....

Hearing that the green guide rod spring was a higher lb rating I thought that it would help with some recent issues I've had so I ordered the new green spring last week and asked what the changes were and why they have changed in the new .40s,

While speaking with CS he stated that they were both the same lbs, but then put me on hold to check what it actually was, he can back and someone just tested it and it was 18lbs. From what I've seen out there for specs on the previous factory blue spring it was 16lbs.

The CS rep stated that the change was a
"flattened end" on the new green spring. He didn't sound very confident and had to put me on hold every time I asked a new question. I'd rather they do that then give a bogus answer. However, knowing that they are very busy I didn't want to be to difficult with a barrage of questions.

My money is on it being both, a stronger spring and some sort of modification to the end of the flat spring.

So anyways, once their inventory/shipping system is back online, "It's been down for 2 weeks" I should have the new spring here and can test the differences.

my 40c spring is really stiff. The slide locks up sometimes and I cannot slide it to the rear to cock the weapon or to remove the slide. Don't know if they are connected in some way?
