They have been discussed here and even a pic of your gun is in the thread. They were designed by Roy Jinks and were apparently an early speedloader cut-out design. One member stated he bought a gun new in 1979 that had them. Rare yes, value I don't know. I haven't seen a gun sold with them but have seen a few stocks for sale.

Doing some gun browsing online and found this .38 for sale at $669. Is this a fair price? It doesn't have a model number, they are just calling it a "5 Screw .38 S&W Special. It has a 4" barrel. Thanks!

The shorter the barrel the lower the cost. This seems like a fair price.

Well, from the single pic, I'd grab it.
Can't see what it looks like overall but a 5 screw pre-15 (what it appears to be) in good shape gotta be worth the asking price. See if they'll do better.

What about a 6 inch, 5 screw, good condition, all finish and stock, not messed with, used, K-142193. .22 cal. ?
