Yes indeedWelcome to Bass Pro!
You may be thinking of these...Those may not be "butchered" stocks. I recall some time ago Roy Jinks mentioning when in the 50's they did "play around" with the stock configuration, and several different relief cuts were tried. A letter would be hopeful. And, with pictures of these stocks included.
A Combat Masterpiece that letters with the stocks you are referring to would be good! Definitely worth the $669 I would think. Those may not be "butchered" stocks. Agree...I would offer a little less and keep as a great range gun, But...I'm intrigued by the grips...I would definitely research them more to see if a rare factory variation...if so, that would change the overall worth considerablyOpinions will vary. I'd say it's at least $100 too high. It's a shooter grade gun, not in collectable condition. Being a five screw will not make it shoot any better.
I wonder if it is a good "shooter grade" gun==I BET it shaves lead??..Bill.Opinions will vary. I'd say it's at least $100 too high. It's a shooter grade gun, not in collectable condition. Being a five screw will not make it shoot any better.
Very interesting, thank you!You may be thinking of these...
They have been discussed here and even a pic of your gun is in the thread. They were designed by Roy Jinks and were apparently an early speedloader cut-out design. One member stated he bought a gun new in 1979 that had them. Rare yes, value I don't know. I haven't seen a gun sold with them but have seen a few stocks for sale.
Transition from Football Relief to Speed Loader stocks
Doing some gun browsing online and found this .38 for sale at $669. Is this a fair price? It doesn't have a model number, they are just calling it a "5 Screw .38 S&W Special. It has a 4" barrel. Thanks!
The shorter the barrel the lower the cost. This seems like a fair price.Doing some gun browsing online and found this .38 for sale at $669. Is this a fair price? It doesn't have a model number, they are just calling it a "5 Screw .38 S&W Special. It has a 4" barrel. Thanks!
What about a 6 inch, 5 screw, good condition, all finish and stock, not messed with, used, K-142193. .22 cal. ?Well, from the single pic, I’d grab it.
Can’t see what it looks like overall but a 5 screw pre-15 (what it appears to be) in good shape gotta be worth the asking price. See if they’ll do better.
Trade you my first born and $500 for it!What about a 6 inch, 5 screw, good condition, all finish and stock, not messed with, used, K-142193. .22 cal. ?
Capt, wow did not realize that, did not think it was very special. Maybe I can make your day.Trade you my first born and $500 for it!
Mine is no where near that good and I paid $500 about 4 years ago.
