Not real common forsure.
If I located one locally, I would probably be working on adding it to my pile. They do need a good home.

The stealth version you have is extremely rare :D

On a more serious note . . . I'm not your best resource on the question of rarity but it's my understanding the 3" Model 10-X was not a standard cataloged barrel length. All that I am aware of were special ordered primarily for overseas markets including Australia (Victoria and New South Wales), France, and a couple others I can't recall.

Here are two with the more common "standard" barrel profile . . . both are Model 10-5s.

If you are able to share, I would be very interested in seeing a photo of your heavy barrel from the muzzle end with a view of the top rib.

Thanks much,

Russ

Three-inch M10

I had wanted a M10 with a 3" barrel for some time. Walked into a LGS on a whim a couple years ago, and there were three in the handgun case. One had lots of wobble and endshake, one had a bright plum-colored cylinder, and one . . . was near perfect. All three were square-butt frames, and all three had tapered barrels. The near-perfect (by my lights) has a place of honor in the old gun cabinet. It shows some finish wear, but is mechanically really good. I swapped the narrow factory trigger for the smooth, wider "combat" trigger, and with a tiny bit of stoning and a standard Wolfe hammer spring and reduced-power rebound spring, it's a mighty good double-action shooter.
