Is this generation taller than us?

6'4" and the wife is 5"8" but we were born in 1933 and 1942. Understand that during the period we were gaining in height but it has stopped and people born in the past 10 years are slightly shorter.

I believe I have heard this too. Can't recall where.

Something I noticed when taking a tour of Mount Vernon, and other colonial homes that are tourist attractions, was the size of the beds. Much shorter than the smallest of the "standard" size of todays adult beds. A six footer would have been in a near fetal position to sleep in beds that small. George Washington was sometimes described as a
"large tall man'', so it makes one wonder what size would have been considered "large and tall" in the 1700's.

I would say that our kids are generally taller than our generation. I am 5'9" and our two sons are 6' and 6'3" respectively. My wife is 5'3".

I do believe that pre-natal care and supplements play a big role, as do all of the additives in the foods and drink they get while growing up. And, yup, lotsa over-weight kids, too.

my family must be getting it wrong. my grandpa was over 6-2 when he passed(big prairie boy in his prime ) father is a well built 6-2 , my self was 6-1 1/2 at my tallest . now at 44 im 6-0 with a sore back :). my son is 5-7 but built like an athlete. im not seeing that many kids over 6-0
but i do see a lot of fatties, WAY more than when i was a kid.
more young bald guys too. or maybe less hats?
