Greeting to all, been lurking here for a while and gainning knowledge.I recently purchased my first SC/TI S&W (gunbroker),it's the 329 pd, the seller claims to be NIB and it appears to be,after inspecting the gun I noticed some spots on the face of the cylinder and I am not so sure if this is normal.Feed back is appreciated.

What you are seeing could be the residue from factory test firing which is done for every gun they sell. The several blotches look strange to me though.

"The several blotches look strange to me though"
It look like discoloration or more like a stain.

That's normal. Everything will change when you get a few rounds through it. Personally, I don't think you should keep a wet finish on this revolver. S&W's factory finish is just fine dry.

S&W 329pd information

Never owned a scandium gun of theirs, but mine have never had any blemishes are junk on it whether from the Performance Center or standard guns. If it wipes off, I wouldn't worry about it. If it doesn't, I'd consider calling S&W (perhaps send them the pictures) and see what they think of it. That "NIB" may have been fired some, banged up some, and then cleaned and left in a box somewhere for quite some time. Some look like stains, but a couple look like possible light damage.

Call customer service and get a return label. The finish on the front of the cylinder is critical, and what you have isn't right. The factory normally fires three rounds (sometimes more) and they don't clean the gun. There will be black rings around those charge holes. What you have isn't residue from firing. Looks like the finish is flaking. Slowest downloading pics I ever saw. Is it just camera quality, or is the black finish on the frame bubbled or quilted? Should be smooth.

I bought it from an individual on GB with all + feed backs and claim that it's NIB,when the gun arrived the tag was still on the trigger guard,it was inspected by my dealer to make sure it's new and he stated that it looked like it's only been test fired at the factory. The 2 obvious stains will not rub off nor will I try .I know that after few shots all will be covered by burn rings,I just do not want a damaged cylinder.

The black finish is excellent, the problem is only the 2 spots on the face of the cylinder.
