is this stolen valor?

Years ago I was on a trip and pulled into a cafe for coffee. There was a old guy in there entertaining people telling them he was a test pilot for lockheed and flew the SR-71. I was a long time guard on the program, knew the test pilots and he wasnt one. The guy was old and I didnt have the heart to spoil his party.

To the original question. The new version of the Stolen Valor Act says a poseur is not allowed to profit from his lies, no gifts or payment for teary-eyed speeches about the comrades he lost at Hamburger Hill. The down side is they can still parade around in their phony uniforms and phony decorations. That's free speech according to SCOTUS. Don't know about anywhere else, but the guys in my VVA chapter have a lot of experience sniffing out and exposing any wannabes that show up around here.

Why does Cherokee have such a cachet ? What's wrong with Sioux or Cheyenne or Pawnee ? Don't recall too many people here in the East claiming Mohawk or Iroquois or Oneida ancestry.

I was going to sit this one out but here goes. My fathers grandmother was 1/2 Choctaw. No I am not registered. The story my father told is that when it came time to register she chose not to because at that time you were looked down on if you were Indian. His mother died shortly after he was born and his GM took him in and raised him in his early years so he was very close to her. When his father remarried he got my father back but not without some hard feelings. My dad ran away from the homestead in NM when he was 16 and moved to CA to live with his grannie. I have tried to research her ancestry but with little success. Her maiden name was Willie Smith and I have discovered that the Choctaw were a matricidal society. I am pale white and blue eyed but my brother and younger sister could pass as Indians. My grandfather used to call my sister his little papoose. My father had a couple of uncles that looked to be Indian. I do believe the very first trail of tears was the moving of the Choctaws to Oklahoma.

Why does it not surprise me that he didn't return?

Maybe he crossed the pond and joined the SAS. :D
No, the army recalled him to active duty because of his lineage. They figured they could use him to negotiate for the release of prisoners held by the Japanese since WWII because the Japanese respected Custer so much.

Hey lets look at the way this story is told. The guy left the room after he said his ggggrandfather was Custer. He had to leave the room to keep from laughing in front of all the guys. ROTFLMAO

It was a joke.........................still ROTFLMAO

I used to claim descendancy from Gen. George McClellan, until I found out what a bone-head he was.

He was one of the best generals that the South ever had! :D And Allan Pinkerton was his best advisor too.

If the South had had as many soldiers as McClellan & Pinkerton THOUGHT we had, we'uns here in Old Virginny would be pledging alligience to the Stainless Banner.

Commissary Banks and Ambrose Burnsides were good'uns too. :)
