Is this wear on a 66 unusual?

There is a little wear spot on the frame of my 66 where the cylinder rubs up against the frame when it is fully swung out. I hadn't noticed this on any of my other revolvers, although I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Does the revolver need to be adjusted somehow?

That isn't unusual. You will see that wear spot on alot of revovlers. On blued ones it will be rubbed to the bare metal in the same spot.

Is there any way you can adjust the cylinder to prevent this? Is this an issue with factory tolerances or is it just a design issue?

It's just how it is. Consider it to be like the ring on the cylinder from the cylinder stop. You can minimize it by not spinning the cylinder when it's open.
