It ain't just here. School stabbing in China

The main difference here is in China practically no one will hear about this guy, and the media won't obsess about him non-stop for weeks and months because they will likely have his trial, find him guilty, put a bullet behind his ear and send his family a bill for the cartridge before all the victim's stitches come out.

And I'm OK with that.

Just shows to go ya, the fallicy of 'gun control'. If a crazy is bent on destruction, mayhem, & murder, he will find a way. Those that think that the absence of guns will mellow the crazies & make them just shrug, take a nap, & go on to better things prolly still believe in the tooth ferry & Santa Clause!

We'd better hope that the crazies don't use bombs or poisonous gas. Or ricin, etc.

If guns become unavailable, we'll see that.

I got on a BBC link and they reported that this has happened 11 times in the last 2 years.

Gentlemen, prepare to defend yourselves!

It is clear that some of the "mentally ill" in our society need close monitoring. Those would be the ones deemed as a threat to themselves and the public. It may be the answer is registering and enforced treatment and medication will be necessary.
In 1947 when I was born there were 155 million people in the U.S.. Now there are 320+ million, and we're bulging at the seams. It's impossible to keep track of the evil in this country when civil liberties are deemed above God's law.
We need to put the US back in the U.S. by becoming self reliant once again and screw world opinion and it's influence on our policies. The "worlds" negative opinion of the U.S. comes from countries that are way to liberal, and now themselves on the verge of bankruptcy and chaos and extremist countries that are now virtually bankrupt and in the throws of chaos.
The U.S. needs to get out of the UN and stop the funding of that organization. NATO the same way.

Good proposition but with one flaw. WHO defines which people are "mentallly ill? Is it the person who espouses non politically correct views about other people or government? How about the person who smokes and drinks or owns guns or fast cars? Many consider those acts to be unhealthy and could consider the people doing them to be 'threats to themselves if not others'. What about all those "homeless"? No sane person would choose to be homeless. Then there are all those teenagers who choose to dress in Goth attire? That certainly isn't what some would call normal.

This isn't a personal attack but just pointing out the slippery slope of allowing some bureaucrat or "doctor" to define who is sane and normal and who isn't. That scares me. We cannot have freedom without civil liberties.

Amen to that.

I would never suggest Hitler's approach to mental illness. I'm not smart enough to even begin a discourse on the issue of mental illness and it's negative effect on society. I do think that far too much emphasis is spent on how to make our youngsters happy as opposed to turning them into stable, worthwhile individuals. Parents of the individual that perpetrated this last incident knew in their hearts this kid was a problem from early on.
