We're told to take a Valium or just chill out. A lot of us that choose to express ourselves here are just thinking out loud. Most of it can be humorous while some of it should be taken seriously. There's a big difference between some dufus in line at the market and the seemingly oblivious person next to you at an intersection.I consider myself a keen observer of the World around me whether I'm in my car or just sitting in my driveway having a cold one.

The other day as I was coming home I took some back roads to avoid some construction. No less than three times did I observe drivers blowing through a stop sign while making a right turn. Not even enough hesitation if a full stop was warranted. I'm almost home and come to an intersection with a four way stop. I look left and then right. On my right I see a SUV approaching at a decent speed. Wasn't too unusual because many drivers seem to apply their brakes at the last moment. I had just started to touch the gas pedal when this vehicle blew through the stop sign narrowly missing the front of my truck. I leaned on my horn as he went by. He threw his left hand up in the air. Don't know if that was an apology or something more flippant.

Is this a rant? If you say so! All I know is that 30 minutes earlier that intersection would've been filled with school kids. We all know how well kids are about paying attention when crossing a street. Could've been a real tragedy.

Clown on a motorcycle was going so fast this weekend the bike ended up embedded in the car making a left turn and flipped it. Biker was well shredded judging by the markings made by the accident investigators listing his major organs down the street.

However, the rest of the story is that the embedded bike burned, taking the car, its driver and his 12-year old daughter with it. How fast are you going to T-bone a Lexus and flip it using a bike?

Wreck happened at 1930, just as our brief twilight was in full swing.

Most people are in a big hurry to go nowhere. I had a car pass me yesterday on a narrow blacktop at around 70 mph and only about 30 yards from the intersection,which they blew.

Problem with these harmless rants is that some bozo will hear you and report you to the authorities and next thing ya know there is the popo at your door with an order from a judge for a mental health evaluation oh and by the way "do you have any weapons?" It's getting dangerous being a crusty old fart these days.

As I've said before, the city of Pensacola could have saved tens of thousands of dollars by not putting up speed limit signs or stop signs. Seems they are just a suggestion here. I'm sure we're not the only one.

It’s really becoming a problem around in my area as well!
People just blatantly running stop signs and red lights!
So far this school year it as been stated the number of drivers just blowing past a school bus with its lights on has increased tremendously. School buses really? I don’t even bat an eye for stopping for one!
What’s the matter with people today? Too much I,I Me,Me and I’m in a hurry screw you get out of my way attitudes!
The road behind my house which is an old two lane back road has become a bypass to another major thoroughfare. Gasoline tanker trucks and other semis are even using it as a by-pass now. Our local police are doing absolutely nothing about it no matter how much complaining has been done. I now call the back road the Haines Hill Motor Speedway. It was never like this before they opened the new major highway. Once in a blue blue moon will the police do speed enforcement back here!
People are just too much in a hurry playing with their I phones and other things!
Can’t even open the windows anymore because of the noise!
I think I need to move further out in the country but I know they’ll find me!

Around here it's; "Turn signals .... I don't need no stinkin Turn signals!"

I live on a semi-rural winding road between two County Parks....... every weekend without a bicycle "road kill" is a surprise to me. they pass you on the right and cruise through stop signs like they weren't there!!

Having been T boned by a kid who ran 2 red lights, I am careful of cross streets.
Worse is when the police ignore blatant red light runners.
Having witnessed 5 cars run a red light at a major intersection in front of a police car who did nothing, I always tell visitors to Honolulu to be careful driving there. From what my friends tell me, things haven't changed since we moved to small town Texas.
We find traffic to be much safer in Hill Country than in Honolulu.

My favorite is exiting my neighborhood to turn left on the "main" street and the cars (to the right)are backed up at the red light down the block. So, does anyone stop to let people on the side street turn left? Heck no! They have to pull ahead and stop, blocking the intersection.

Guys, I'll bet we could go back to the 1920s and find rants like this regarding reckless drivers. All I can do is drive my own car and watch out for wackos. I do admit that if I must go out at night around here, I take along a helmet and the Jeep with its roll bar.

Stop signs aren't valid until sunup......

I'm making my neighborhood watch rounds later because a lot of break ins seem to be happening around 5:00 AM. Of course people are starting to go to work. Three times this AM I almost got creamed by people running stop signs. I don't mean 'rolling' I mean RUNNING. I thought stop signs were good for 24 hours, but I guess I was wrong.

In my youthful, LEO days we called these scenarios "Cherry groves" because of tickets that could be written.
Seems that a lot of municipalities and counties are overlooking an income source, as well as a teachable moment for jurists.

Far from being perfect, but seeing so many folks ignoring the use of turn signals and gabbing on their cell phones completely obvious to anyone else driving around them. I am trying hard to just give them a Chevy Chase Merry Christmas wave and just be happy to make it to my destination safely.

I live 8 miles north of the county seat. In the summer when we have lots of extra people here I sometimes have to wait one minute or longer to get through the main intersection when I'm going north or south and have the flashing red light I think about you folks the would love to have traffic this light.
