According to the book it is a '46-'47 Vintage Transitional 3rd Model 1926 .44 Military and it is extremely cool!

I believe that gun is too big for the holster. Shouldn't a gun fit dddper in a holster to protect the trigger and guard from being caught on something and going off. Maybe a concealed carry holster??

Still a nice S&W you have there.

Thanks. This is exactly how it was intended to fit. Priorities were a little different when that holster was designed...
 
What a nice rig. Together with the holster its superb.
