Hello,
I've been taking some time off this forum and other things to focus on my life and business. I've (finally) come to the conclusion that I worry too much about things I can't change, so I'm now (again finally) focusing on my little world I live in.
Still working on a firearm design I think the world needs. It's taking more time than I thought...
I recently also discovered a huge interest in our colonial times and that reflects on my dress code now
The second oldest book we own now is Thomas Jefferson's Manual of Parliamentary Practice from 1859. It's in excellent condition for its age, I love it.
The oldest book is Washington Irving's "Life of Washington" from 1857. But it's just a single volume, in bad shape and there are so many volumes, it's very confusing to me which one is authentic.
And with the interest in colonial times, I'm now also investing time and effort to master both the quill as well as the ink pen... incl. writing cursive. We did learn it in school with fountain pens, but I've never practiced it since leaving school and it shows.
This was done with an ink pen, but I did clean and cut the quill to write with it. I'll check if I can upload the video...
Further I have purchased several booklets of George Washington's Rules of Civility & Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation.
All my kids got a copy and when we have dinner together, we have a little discussion about the rules and why they are important. They hate it right now, but I want them to grow up to be well mannered people!
I've also kept exercising; my deadlift PR is now 404lbs!

And yes, you can lift in a colonial outfit

This was just light weight for a warm-up
So, I hope y'all are doing good and hopefully I didn't miss too much
