Yep, that's ground hog!
I recall a thing some years back when another ground hog somewhere else was trying to horn in on Phil's schtick. (Or maybe Phil was ill?) Whoever was holding the imposter got severely bitten on live TV. Journalistic integrity (or maybe the blood?) made sure the scene got airplay.
I was almost in Punxsutawney once. Took a wrong turn while leaving the IUP campus at night and had started thinking I was going the wrong way when I saw the sign giving the distance to the town.

We haven’t had a real “winter” here in central VA for a few years now, regardless of what the groundhog sees.

Our local weather station said at noon ole Phil only has a 39% success rate. I wouldn't be too excited about this year's prediction.
Oh heck I was up in that country one time...shooting groundhogs in fact. I may have shot a Phil. Seems one dug a hole under a fence and escaped... Want to see a real fun picture of the ol GH...show him out in a bean field with about an acre of beans mowed off. Farmers just love that........my bounty was 2 to 10 dollars
And what's the success rate of the local weather person?
Ground hogs are not welcome for most any farmer in upstate Pa
Phil is the exception to the rule and they keep him behind glass the rest of the year! I go there a good bit in the summer.
My mom died on Groundhog's Day 2015. It's no longer a fun day for me.

A bunch of us were deer hunting outside of Punxy and went to town one evening for some adult refreshments.
Someone cracked a joke about shooting Phil.
A rather large bar maid told us in no uncertain terms to knock off the wise cracks and leave Phil alone.
